Catching up...

Struise - Pannepot: Very nice! Mikkeller - Single Hop Nugget IPA: Yummy IPA. Mikkeller - Single Hop Nelson Sauvin IPA: Another great IPA! Mikkeller - Drink’in the Sun: Easy to drink summer beer. This is Mikkeller though, so it's not THAT easy ;)

I got a Macbook Pro!

So, I had the option to get a Macbook at a quite good price so I now own a 13" Macbook Pro. I haven't got any experience with OS X until now (well I do own an iPhone, but that doesn't quite count) and I would like to change that and get my own impressions of OS X.

The hardware is sexy, it's truly nice and beats all other laptops I've played with. It's very quiet, the battery life is pretty good and the screen is nice.

Until now I've never liked trackpads and clearly preferred a trackpoint like on the excellent Thinkpad laptops, however the big multi-touch trackpad on the Macbook have convinced me - trackpads, when done properly, works very well!

As for the software part, OS X is generally quite nice. It starts and shuts down quickly and is aesthetically very nice. It's not perfect though - I personally prefer the Windows 7 taskbar over the OS X dock. I find the dock a bit "fuzzy", making it harder than neccesary to find the application you want to launch. I also think it window manager could use some work. If I have several windows of the same program open, I can't easily switch between those windows with CMD+TAB.

That's my current experience with my Macbook Pro and OS X, I'm still learning of course so some of my complaints might simply be lack of knowledge on my behalf :)

YABU (Yet Another Beer Update)

These are all crappy iPhone pictures, but better than nothing I guess...
From Beers
Skovlyst - Birkebryg: Thin beer without much taste.
From Beers
De Dolle Extra Export Stout: A quite nice stout, worked well together with the chocolate dessert I had at the same time :)
From Beers
Bøgedal No. 177: I had hoped for more, but maybe I couldn't properly taste it because I tasted the beer just below right before this one.
From Beers
Mikkeller - Beer Geek Brunch Weasel - Islay Edition: An extreme version of the famous "pooh beer". As the name implies, this has been aging in whisky barrels for 2½ months and that certainly makes a difference - the whisky is very obvious so if you enjoy a good single malt, this beer is for you! Sadly it will likely be hard to find and it's not exactly a cheap beer either...
From Beers
Mikkeller - Drink your sorrows away: A belgian strong ale. Tastes a lot like many of the good Trappist beers of the same style, this have a somewhat bitter finish though.

From Beers
Mikkeller - USAlive: Sorta similar to the Funky Easter above, but with slightly more "oomf" ;)
From Beers
Hornbeer - Røgøl: Very nice and well balanced smoked beer - like it!

3 beers

From Beers
Hornbeer - Fødselsdagsfest: A quite nice beer, not sure whether it's available anymore though, was made for the 10 year anniversary of ”Danske Ølentusiaster”.
From Beers
Alesmith Mikkeller Stone - Belgian Style Tripel Ale: This "collaboration beer" is quite decent and easy to drink too.
From Beers
Hornbeer - Imperial IPA: Yummy! I'm getting quite impressed with Hornbeer, I think I've tasted 3 of their beers so far and they've all been quite good.

Icelandic beers

A friend brought back some beers from Iceland to me (thanks Jean!) and here there are + a danish beer to sleep on :p
From Beers
Bruggsmidjan Kaldi Lager: Pretty basic lager beer, nothing special, but certainly drinkable.
From Beers
Bruggsmidjan Kaldi Dökkur: Better than the Lager, but still nothing special. They do seem to make a coffee stout, I would like to taste that some day.
From Beers
Víking Gylltur: I wouldn't call it a bad beer, but it is very boring :(
From Beers
Raasted Imperial Stout: I couldn't end with that Viking beer, so I opted for this beer to help me to sleep and it was a great choice. Very nice imperial stout!
